Today the Muslim Ummah is poisoned by ignorant speakers, we see among us the prevalence of Muslims, brothers and sisters, writing books, selling them on the internet, starting Youtube channels, speaking on religious matters, giving verdicts, interpreting and teaching life lessons or hadith based upon their own understanding without any connection to scholars of proper knowledge and guidance. Indeed it is a time of great ignorance for the Muslims engaged in propagating this dawah, and a source of great misguidance for the Muslims who follow and admire them.
We ask you sincerely for the sake of the Ummah, who have you studied under? What are your qualifications? Have your books and your dawah been taken from the scholars proven over time? And do you understand the great crime and punishment from Allah for speaking in this religion Without knowledge? Imagine striving sincerely for Allah’s sake only to misguide thousands of Muslims? Imagine giving dawah thinking that you are doing good only to find out that what you’ve been teaching is actually not in line with Allah and His Messengers, May Allah’s peace and blessing be upon all of them.
What a horrible outcome to realize that due to the potential of someone’s ignorance, lack of knowledge before speaking, or due to perhaps their ego or seeking of fame, or to earn a profit off the advertisements of their YouTube channel or the books they sell, that all of their deeds were useless. Or that all of their efforts only were the source of more corruption, more disputes, the cause of shirk for idololizing certain speakers and rallying behind the innovators, and the cause of Misguidance in a time when guidance is needed so badly.
The Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people, but He takes it away by taking away (the lives of) the religious scholars till none of the scholars remains alive. Then the people will take ignorant ones as their leaders, who, when asked to deliver religious verdicts, will issue them without knowledge, the result being that they will go astray and will lead others astray.” [Bukhari]
Al-Haafidh Al-Qurtubiy (rahimahullaah) stated in Al-Mufhim: ‘’This text (proves) that indeed the disappearance of knowledge will not be by way of removing it from the hearts (of the people); but (its disappearance) will be through the death of the scholars. (Then) the ignorant people will remain- those who will occupy the place of the scholars in the (field) of giving verdicts and teaching. They will teach and give verdicts based on ignorance, so ignorance will spread and become manifest.’’ [End of quote]
Then Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari (may Allaah preserve him) said after the above quote: ‘’So if the ‘Sound Sunni knowledge’ is taken away, then acting upon it will be taken away…is that not the case? When ignorance manifests, acting upon it will become manifest; so both knowledge and acting upon (Knowledge) will disappear. Ignorance will manifest and acting upon (ignorance) will become widespread just as Al-Haafidh Al-Qurtubiy (rahimahullaah) clarified in Al-Mufhim.” [Source: Al-Hajr Fee Daw-il Kitaab Was-Sunnah Wa Fahm Salafil Ummah’ Page: 15-16 by Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaarimay Allaah preserve him]
So I say to you all and warn you, and I remind myself and ask you to warn others. Warn those who publish books without proper Islamic knowledge and warn those who value their own words and teachings over the teachings of the Qur’an and the Righteous predecessors to fear Allah Azzawajal and teach what they taught, take where they took from and leave what they did not speak about. I warn us all to realize the great crime of speaking without knowledge. It is a crime against Allah Himself. A crime that Allah will punish us for and a crime that the Messengers and Prophets will testify against those who commtied it on the Day of Judgement. Do not support these people not aid them in their Dawah, for aiding the ignorant only aids in the destruction of Islam as it was intended to be.
Be careful who you learn your deen from. Be careful who you follow on Instagram and who you support or listen to on Youtube. Be careful who you learn your deen from, for you give them the ability to misguided you in a heartbeat. Learn from the dead, because verily the living are not safe from fitnah. May Allah protect you all and protect us from this trend of Muslim speakers who strive to do good without knowledge and in reality only corrupt and misguide. Ameen.- Umar
